When is Hindi Divas celebrated?

Hindi Diwas is celebrated every year on 14 September. On 14 September 1949, the Hindi language was given the status of the official language of India. On September 14, many decisions were taken regarding the Hindi language. For this reason, it was considered good to celebrate Hindi Diwas on 14th September.

Seeing the importance of this day, the first Prime Minister of the country, Jawaharlal Nehru asked to celebrate 14 September every year as Hindi Diwas. The first Hindi Day was celebrated in India on 14 September 1953.

On 14 September 1949, the Constituent Assembly unanimously decided that Hindi would be the official language of India. Due to the news of the removal of the English language, riots started in many areas of the country. There were riots in Tamil Nadu in January 1965 over a language dispute.

Why celebrate Hindi Divas [History]

77% of the people of India write, understand, read and speak Hindi i.e. Hindi is the main language of India but to date, India has not got the status of the national language. Even today, in schools, jobs, interviews etc., English speaking person is usually given more preference. Even today, in most of the schools, government offices etc., work is done in the English language only.

The main objective of celebrating Hindi Diwas every year is to make people aware of Hindi language that when most of the people of the country speak, write, read and understand Hindi language and use the Hindi language in more than 50 forms in common parlance. Why can’t official work also be done in the Hindi language? Why the English language is given more preference in jobs even today? Why even today the Hindi language is not used in offices, government offices and even if it is done then 100% is not done in Hindi.

Hindi Diwas is a special day celebrated every year to emphasize the importance of the Hindi language. Every year this day makes us aware of our main language and our culture. We and our future generations have to understand the importance of the Hindi language. The rate of the Hindi language is decreasing day by day and more importance is being given to the English language. Hindi Diwas comes every year to remind us that the Hindi language is our native language and we have to take it forward.

Hindi is not only the official language of India but also the identity of India. The history of the Hindi language in India is thousands of years old. The Hindi language is our mother tongue which we also have to remember and our generations too. Hindi Diwas reminds us of our culture by coming again and again, that is why the importance of Hindi Diwas has been considered.

How is Hindi Divas 2021 celebrated?

Programs are organized in many Hindi schools on the day of the Hindi Diwas. On this day competitions are organized in the Hindi language on poetry, essay writing, debate, poems etc.

On this day the importance of the Hindi language is explained in schools so that people understand the importance of the Hindi language and can use the Hindi language as the main language in their daily work, colloquial etc. The winner of these competitions is rewarded with a prize.

On the day of Hindi Diwas, many types of prizes are also distributed and honoured. Rajbhasha Gaurav and Rajbhasha Kirti Puraskar are given on the day of Hindi Diwas only.

Rajbhasha Gaurav Award is given to an Indian person who has written a good book or article in technical or science subject and Rajbhasha Kirti Award is given to any office or institution which has made maximum use of Hindi language in its official work and colloquial and Hindi language should be promoted.
